The following is an excerpt taken from the 1974 Vicars report for the Annual Congregational meeting :
"The
Vicar once remarked that before he left he would like to see St. James a
"jewel box" for the worship of God, and having seen the installation
of the six stained glass windows, and now the completion, after 26 months of
work, of the needlepoint rugs for the chancel, he feels that this suggestion
has been achieved, and is grateful to all who have shared in making this
possible"
Fr.
Rogers was the 22nd Vicar
of St. James, serving the churches of St. James and St. Thomas for 13
years. Fr. Rogers and his wife resided
in the old Vicarage on Benson Hill.
